The legacy of the Roman Empire was mainly literature, and art, but also gave us new ways of architecture that we use to this day.

The ancient Roman Empire influenced many parts of modern society. Some examples are, language, religion and technology. Latin was the common language for the vast empire and became the root for modern French, Spanish and Italian. English also has many Latin words. In the late Roman Empire, Christianity was legalized and became the official faith. Christianity is currently the most popular religion. Lastly the Romans innovated and improved technologies such as aqueducts, architecture and extensive road systems.

First, the laws. Roman laws have had an influence on many laws that we have in our country, and others. (I think) Second, religion. One of their religions, Christianity, is one of the largest and longest standing religions in the world. Lastly, is language. Latin was the most common language spoken through the empire. Many languages, such as Spanish, French, Portuguese, and Italian have Latin roots.

The Roman empire may be long gone but it's legacy lives on today, influencing most of the world. The Romans created trade routes between the various cultures of Western Europe, Asia and Africa. This promoted a cultural exchange which shaped the development of society for the whole world. Roman architecture, including the roadways which opened the aforementioned trade routes was very much ahead of it's time. They took what the Greeks had designed and improved upon it, as we have done to their architecture today. The Romans paved the way to modern laws and government systems, though once again it was heavily based upon the Greek systems of law and government.

The Roman legacies were Latin, education, and architecture. We use Latin roots to make English words, which we speak everyday. We also do homework almost everyday, and that is getting us more educated. Finally, they gave us architectural ideas, still being used to this day.

The legacy of the Roman Empire is that there are structures and architecture, art and education, and cities. For example, BC place is built like the coliseum because you can see the show wherever you sit. Getting together to watch sporting events comes from the Roman Empire. Another example is the cities the Romans built. Without cities we would just have farmland everywhere we looked. There would be no place to get supplies or sell goods. The Romans charged taxes so that they could support the city and we still pay taxes to this day. Education and interest in art and culture was also a very important part to them, as it is to us. The Romans made Latin their common language so that they could talk about ideas. Without the Roman Empire we wouldn’t have any of these things.

Ancient Rome had a large impact on the modern world and improved it in several ways. For instance, the Romans used Latin language, which remained the language of several European countries after the Roman Empire fell. The French, Spanish, Italian, and Portuguese languages all developed from forms of Latin, and many words from English also came from Latin. The Romans also developed laws which provided a model for many of our legal systems. The Roman Empire was the first society to use lawyers, who would interpret the law on behalf of clients. Roman engineering influenced today's society by paving roads in stone, using arches to make larger buildings, and developing concrete, which is a building material we still use today.

Laws, entertainment and architecture were all part of the roman legacy. The roman legacy has had a huge impact on us today. Romans would have big gladiator fights where people from all over would come to watch. Now we have Concerts and movie theaters for entertainment. Roman architecture is a big part of today’s buildings, Rogers arena is based on the coliseum! Our law is a lot like how the Roman law was. Just like how you will go to court to see who is guilty and who is innocent. Look around you, can you see anything that’s based on the roman legacy?
