Life lesson #1 of for people living in the Lower Mainland. Never trust the meteorologist. Today was supposed to be Walnut Grove Water Park day, but with thunder showers in the forecast, both Mme. Stopa and I decided to cancel today's trip in favour of going on Tuesday. With that said, the sun shined all afternoon. UGH! So with the plan to go tomorrow at recess, we had a visit this morning from Ms. Nurse, who handed back the students' Kangaroo Quizzes, and played a few more math related games. Before recess, the class played a pair of warmup activities, including Snoopy vs the Red Baron & Finish my Line. Following the recess break, the class were given a year end activity booklet (similar to a mini-yearbook) to work through. Just before the lunch bell, the class was enlisted by Mrs. Gore and Mrs. Pimentel to help relocate novel study sets from the book room, to the art room in preparation for next fall's class changes. In the afternoon, the class read, then was given 20 minutes to complete a compare and contrast Venn diagram, and a paragraph on the novel and movie "Wonder". To finish off the day, we planned a class clean up and collection of school supplies, with some DPA to cap the day, but we never got past the cleaning stage, so the DPA will have to wait until Tuesday.
REMINDER: Tomorrow we will be going to the Walnut Grove Water Park rain or shine, and I have asked the students to pack for the day accordingly. It is supposed to be nice, so I would suggest sunscreen, a hat, bathing suit, towel and a brown bag lunch as a minimum. Students can also bring water guns and water balloons, and any sports equipment they may want to bring for the day. We will be back by no later than 230pm, and all students must be picked up from the school, and not from the park.
