Our day kicked off with an exciting, if not thrilling, game of Spelling Bingo! As will be the case most of this year, students needed to put their vocabulary knowledge to the test to win. Congratulations to our big winners today, John & Ben! From there, we turned our attention to solving some French phrases. The sentences involved identifying the colours of common items in class, clothing, and parts of the body. We will continue to build their vocabulary next week, but I am very happy with their progress in French to date. Bien fait!!! In gym, we played King of the Court Dodgeball. After recess, the students were given an Online Shopping Math Challenge. (Attached below) Each group of 2 - 3 students had to shop and spend as close to $1234 on either walmart.ca or amazon.ca. I absolutely loved watching the students quibble over whether they should buy Pampers or Pineapples! In the afternoon, I read with both Maya and Jun, while others read silently at their seats. We sat together and read another couple chapters of "Fatty Legs", before watching a pair of videos about Residential Schools. (Both videos can be found on the Social Studies Page.) Despite the somber and serious nature of the topic, the students showed incredible empathy and understanding of the issue.
