Super short, but a really good day in Division 10 today! Our day began with a quick warm up activity called Telephone Game Tag. It is more like a relay, than tag, but basically the students spaced themselves out around the basketball court outside near the playground, and needed to race to their partner to pass along a message, then the next person would do the same, until the message reached the 6th and final person, who would try to repeat the initial message. The first two attempts, offered some hilariously incorrect message, but the third time was the charm, as the combined teams of the Senators and Jets, and Jackals and Whalers nailed it! The students then headed to music class with Mr. Barkman, and then back for some French review of colours, numbers, common items and body parts, before a very quick introduction to some on common greetings. (See below). After recess, we had our final 4 Science presentation on Human Body Systems.
French Greetings:
Bonjour (Hello / Good day)
Bon soir (Hello / Good evening)
Bonne nuit (Goodnight)
HOMEWORK: Tomorrow will attempt to tackle our FSA long write story, so the more preparation the students can do tonight, the better equipped they will be for tomorrow's in class writing assignment.
Here are some pointers to help get you ready.
The story will be about: A special compass that guides your characters on an adventure, including where they go, and what they do.
The written story needs to have a Beginning, Middle and an End.
Beginning: Should introduce the characters, the setting, the special abilities of the compass, and lead the reader into the details of the story. The Middle part of your story should include what happens during your adventure. The End, should complete your story and offer an ending to your characters' adventure.
The story will need to be 3 - 4 pages long, double-spaced.
**We will review how to build an idea web to help you in class before lunch, and you will have the afternoon, after silent reading to write your story.**
NOTE: Remember, Friday is a Professional Development Day.
