The students were absolutely fantastic today. I had my fingers crossed that our first ever "Block Friday" would go well, but it went even better than I'd imagined. But more about that in a bit. First up today was our DART assessments that we had begun with Mrs. Mulski two weeks ago. The student read and responded to stories about either Cycling the Kettle Valley, or Wolves depending on their grade level. Both Mrs. Mulski and I were very impressed with the students work and reading. Following recess, the students returned to complete this week's spelling quiz. Following the quiz, and a short lesson on pie and bar graphs, each of the table groups took their survey results from last week, and created their own bar graphs. Once that was done, handed in, and the classroom was tidied up, it was the moment the students have been waiting for all week...BLOCK FRIDAY!! For the last 90 minutes of the day, the students had the chance to sit, use their imaginations, and build whatever they could imagine, from the Lego they'd brought from home. Towards the end of the day, I announced we were going to have Lego car races, and that's when things really fired up! I had an absolute blast watching the students race, tinker and then improve their car designs. It was an awesome way to cap off our week in Division 10!
NOTE: Thank you to ALL the parent drivers who signed up to help us drive students to next week's field to LEFT. All the permission slips are in, the field trip is confirmed and it should be a very interesting and informative excursion.
