After months of waiting, today was the day, students finally got their TECH DAY! But before play, was work, so we kicked off our school day with a pair of short stories, in which we discussed conflict, challenges and plot. After sharing a number of our own original short stories, and sufficiently dissecting the ones read in class, we moved on to the coding portion of our Robot Music Dances. Mrs. Pimentel was kind enough to lend a hand, while the students worked through the moves they wanted their Dash Robots to make to their chosen pieces of music, or songs. After lunch, it was nearly the long awaited arrival of Tech Day, but there was one last task left on our list before that, as we gathered up the garbage tongs and plastic bags, and headed outside to pick up litter around the school grounds. Finally after nearly 5 hours of anxious anticipation, the student had the green light to break out their phones, portable gaming systems, robots, RC cars and tablets and began their Tech Day.
