It was a morning of Handball and class seating suspense, before heading back to class for moving day in Division 10. After a month of working, playing and collaborating together, the table groups were shaken up, and students were assigned new seats. Everyone immediately began working together with their new team members, by flexing their intellectual muscles during a class review activity. After recess, the students worked through their new vocabulary words (posted on the English Page), and then blew me away with their knowledge and understanding of decimals and fractions. After a sunny and bright Lunch break, the class returned for a rather distracted silent reading period, then we delved a bit deeper in the the story of Seepeetza and her life in residential school. Finally we took a quick DPA break, before returning to try our hand at drawing Sponge Bob. (Instructional video posted below.)
HOMEWORK: Student should review their spelling words and finish their Sponge Bob drawings. Also, as part of our Fun Friday this week, the students should bring in a favourite book, or a book by their favourite author, or a book including their favourite character for Show and Tell.
REMINDER: Tomorrow is an early dismissal ahead of Parent-Teacher meetings (2pm - 430pm) and the Scholastic Book Fair is now open to families. Tons of fantastic books available in the library, with partial proceeds going back to James Kennedy Elementary.
NOTE: Parent driver volunteers for skating. I will be sending home a NEW form for all available drivers tomorrow. My apologies, as the original form that I used over the past few years, was updated and added to over the summer.
HALLOWEEN CANDY: Parents, please limit the amount of candy your children bring to school to ONE TREAT.
