This morning, we took a different approach than normal, and instead of reading and talking about North America's First Nations, we watched an excellent video about life in Europe, and the Americas in the late 15th century. The students took notes on the video based on what they Knew, Wondered about and Learned about. (KWL activity). Ask you son or daughter about the significance of corn, and the domestication of animals, and how it impacted civilizations on both sides of the Atlantic. Following recess, the class headed off to see Mr. Barkman with their recorders and music duotangs, then returned a half an hour later, to continue our discussion and watch a bit more of our video. Students finally got to dive into their Novel Study books today during silent reading, before taking a quick break to head off to gym for an epic (and extremely loud) game of Dodgeball! (Photos below) When they returned to class hot and sweaty, Madame Mulski awaited, and the students dove back into their books and put their synthesizing skills to the test.
HOMEWORK: Spelling words were handed out at the end of the day, so students did not have the chance to review or write out their new list of the words. Please look over the words. Look up any that you are unsure about, and write out each word at least twice.
