After back to back snow days, it was a full classroom in division 10 today. I was happy to see so many smiling, happy faces come through this morning, and to hear all about how they spent their two days away from school.
To begin our day, we did a writing exercise, identifying the 5 W's of writing, and learning how to answer with complete sentences. The topic, naturally, was "My Snow Day". Once we had the basics completed, we took a half hour DPA break, and headed outdoors to work on teamwork and build some snowmen. (See the photo gallery below!) Once the students returned from Music class, the students had the choice of working on their writing exercise from earlier, or doing more research on their Human Body projects. It was an indoor lunch, due to the challenges of all of the snow on the school grounds, and impressively, many students opted to work on their classwork, rather than taking the lunch break to play games, or hang out with their classmates. In the afternoon, we read through a couple of stories dealing with perseverance and diligence, and discussed the similarities and differences. To finish off our day, we met up with the students from Division 8 for a thrilling game of Bench Ball!
HOMEWORK: The Human Body Systems research projects are due TOMORROW. (Presentations will begin next Tuesday.)
REMINDER: Please ensure the students are properly dressed for the weather, as we will again be heading outdoors tomorrow, provided it doesn't start raining.
