Wow!!...what a busy day in Division 8! From Stephen Hawking, to spelling quizzes, to wheelchair basketball, to writing activities, and even a science vocabulary trivia game...it was a jam-packed day of learning.
We began our day with review of our spelling words, which are also science vocabulary. From there, Sam, our youth care worker, came in to talk to all of us about self-regulation. (I have attached the video she showed below). After recess, we finally completed our spelling quiz, then turned our attention to learning more about Stephen Hawking, the famed Physicist and Cosmologist who passed away last month. After lunch we began to prepare for this week's writing assessment, with some mind map and graphic organizer activities. The students then had about 45 minutes to write about their opinions on climate change. In between planning and writing, we had a brief introductory lesson for wheelchair basketball in the gym. Like I said...it was an incredibly busy day!
NOTE: Be sure to check out the latest additions to the Students' Art and Gallery Page
HOMEWORK: The students were sent home with permission slips for the scheduled upcoming field trips to the Stave Falls Powerhouse and the Metro Vancouver Waste to Energy plant in Burnaby. I will be looking for parent drivers for both trips, so please contact me at: [email protected] if you are able to help out on May 8th, or 10th or better yet, both! All forms should be returned by this Friday, April 20th!
