Our Monday morning warm-up activity saw us test both our memory and ability to ask Yes/No Questions. Once we were all fully awake and engaged, we talked about the Zones of Regulation, and how we all need to work towards controlling our emotions, and not allowing them to control us. With the zones in mind, we talked about some of the more common emotions, and then played a game of emotions Bingo. After recess, there was a bit of time to study and brush up on Fractions, ahead of today's Fractions Quiz. After lunch, about 1/4 of the students needed a bit more time to finish off their quiz, so while others read quietly at their table, some worked diligently to complete their first quiz of the term. To finish off our afternoon, we read and discussed the final couple pages of chapter 2 of the Breadwinner, played a comprehension game with this week's spelling words (available on the Language Arts Page), and capped the day with some desperately needed DPA.
REMINDER: Tuesday is the James Kennedy Elementary Track and Field Meet. All students will take part in at least 3 events, so please make sure they have appropriate clothing and footwear.
NOTE: With our Field Trips to the Stave Falls Powerhouse and the Waste-to-Energy facility next week, we are still looking for at least one more driver for our trip to Burnaby on Thursday, May 10th. If you are able to drive, please contact me at: [email protected]
