"Tap-a-phone" was first out of the gate this morning, as we eased into our school week, with a class warm-up. Students had to pass along a sequence of details without speaking, and without looking at one another. They lined up, and passed along their coded message by tapping either their classmate's shoulder, head, elbow and back. From there, we moved onto working on our Entrepreneur's Fair Projects, and then broke for recess. After a drizzly break outside, it was back to class to put their skills of measurement to the test. We reviewed perimeter, area, volume and mass. In the afternoon, the students put the final touches on their math package, and then we we headed to Mrs. O'Shea's class for some Lil' Buddy time. The students make 3D pumpkin spheres, and then read with the kindergarteners. Lots of Fun! To wrap up our day, we watched the Preparedness BC Video about Earthquake preparedness in advance of our visit tomorrow by representatives from Langley Emergency Services.
HOMEWORK: Students need to finish their Measurement Math Work Package.
REMINDER: We have our field trip to Science World later this week, and we still have room for 2 more chaperones. If you are interested in joining us, please contact me at: [email protected] We plan to leave the school by school bus at 9am, and return before the end of the school day.
NOTE: The students were sent home with permission forms for the Sportsplex Skating Program, please fill in and return the forms before Tuesday, October 24th. There is a cost of $30 associated with the lesson, so if this creates a financial hardship, please contact me, and I will do my best to accommodate your financial needs. Also, in order to keep the costs in check, we will be looking for parent-drivers to help get the students to and from the arena.
