HOMEWORK: Please finalize your topic for the Heritage Fair. You must have it in to me for approval tomorrow morning.
To start our Thursday, we finally dove into our Olympics Journals. Not only did the students write about what it takes to be a good teammate, and our passions, but we also heard from current Canadian Olympians about what helped them to be successful, and watched them in their Olympic events. In gym class, we completed day 3 of the Olympics, and after a trio of days Team USA leads with 9 pts, Team Japan & Team Korea are tied with 7, and Team Canada is starting to pick up the pace with with 4 pts. In the mid-point of the day, the class sharpened their typing skills and had time to do research on their Heritage Fair project. After lunch, there was 30 minutes of quiet reading, then we read Wonder, and finished the afternoon with a lesson on how to cite research and create a bibliography. (Citations for Beginners video is posted on the Social Studies Page.)

You can change if you like, however, I really liked your idea of doing the history of basketball from a Canadian perspective. Not everyone knows that basketball was invented by a Canadian, not only that, but you could look at success of Canadian Basketball Internationally, and the number of NBA stars who are Canadian.
