With May the Fourth being a non-instructional Professional Development Day (aka Pro-D Day), we launched into our day with some Star Wars inspired activities, including a word search and a graphing exercise. We also watched one of my favourite Star Wars inspired bits from the Jimmy Fallon show. (Video attached below...it's awesome!) After Jimmy Fallon and a snack break, it was time to hatch our May Table Groups. With all the excitement around new groups, it was time to take all that energy outside for Gym class. When the students returned from the recess break, they settled on our table group names, and then the creative process of logo design got into full swing! When all the dust settled, and the logo votes were tallied, the table groups settled on: the Yummy Macaroons, the Jajabots, the Jumping Jellybeans, the Mechanical Foxes & the Bacon Makers! In the afternoon, the class had time to Read, Write, Play or Draw, then took a quick body break, and then capped off our day with a visit from Mrs. Gore and reading chapter 3 of the Breadwinner.
REMINDER: Friday is a Professional Development Day. Also remember that we have 2 field trips planned for next week. Tuesday we are travelling to the Stave Falls Powerhouse, and Thursday, we are taking a trip to the Waste-to-Energy facility in Burnaby (we are still looking for one more parent-volunteer driver).
