We usually save our Math for after recess, but we switched it up this morning and did some long division review to get our brains working first thing this morning. I also handed out a 1 - 12 Multiplication and Division times table to the students, as some still need to work on memorizing their times table. From there, we slid into French Verbs, and practiced some of the most common (and useful) verbs. (Verbs can be found on the French Page.) After a quick snack break, it was off to the gym, to play our final round of the Quidditch playoffs, and crown a Champion. When all the dust settled, one team stood alone, undefeated and as champions, Team Ravenclaw! With it being a shortened day due to Parent-Teacher interviews this evening, we worked right through the rest of the mid-morning deciphering and reading War Poetry, and working on our Poppy Wreaths. With it pouring outside, the students stayed indoors at lunch, played some games, drew, hung out and ate their lunches. For the final 100 minutes of the day, the class read, then continued work on artwork for our Remembrance Day Assembly next week.
HOMEWORK: Student who are interested in reading our Wartime poems (In Flanders Fields & War is Never Over) should practice tonight, as I will be choosing 3 students to read each one at the assembly next week. I will choose our presenters based on their clarity, preparedness and pacing. (The poems can be found on our Social Studies page).
