Following up on the excellent day we had yesterday, I opted to forego the math corrections that I had planned this morning, and began instead with a brief lesson on the history of one of Canada's most notable victories of the First World War, the Battle of Vimy Ridge. I was impressed with the level of student interest, and the excellent questions that stemmed from our video viewing and class discussion. (I have posted the videos on the Social Studies Page.) At 10am, we took ourselves down to the gym and broke into our four Quidditch teams, and then held a king of the court Dodgeball competition. After recess, the class reviewed their weekly spelling words, played a couple rounds of Spelling Bingo, then finished up with a Spelling Close, instead of our usual quiz. In the afternoon, we read, completed our Jersey Day / Superhero Day posters and then the student had free time to play, collaborate or create together until the end of the day.
REMINDER: There is no school on Friday or Monday, and we return to class again on Tuesday. I hope you all have a restful long weekend, and take the time on Saturday to pay your respects to our fallen servicemen and women at one of the many Remembrance Day ceremonies around the Lower Mainland.
