Today's focus was on Science and Climate Change, as we had our class presentation from the Sustainable Energy Association. Our speaker reviewed some of the ways we could reduce our carbon footprint and reviewed some the common causes of greenhouse gas emissions. She also challenged our class (and their families) to reduce the impact we have on Global Warming by making some small but significant changes to our routines. After recess, we continued with the theme of Climate Change, as the students copied out this week's list of spelling words. (Located on the Language Arts Page) We then took the last half hour before lunch to work on Fractions in Math. After lunch, we had a visit from Mrs. Roberts who talked to us about Tofino. After her slideshow, it was time for silent reading, before heading off to the gym for 4-corners soccer. We capped our day with a collaborative "team" drawing activity.
HOMEWORK: Students need to finish up to page 54 of their Math Fractions package. They should also review their spelling words ahead of Friday's spelling quiz.
REMINDER: Thursday will be Jersey Day at James Kennedy Elementary, as we honour the memory of the players and workers from the Humboldt Broncos who were killed or injured in a tragic bus crash in Saskatchewan last Friday. Students and staff will also be wearing jerseys to show support of those who lost loved ones, or have been impacted by the tragedy.
NOTE: Please remember that Friday is an early dismissal day, and students will be let out at 1:30pm.
