Today, took an unexpected turn, when the students came in buzzing about the earthquake and subsequent tsunami warnings along the west coast. So, French was shelved until tomorrow, and we dove into the discussion around earthquakes, what causes them and the precautions people need to take in the event of a major earthquake and tsunami. In addition to learning more about this morning's event, we also looked into the massive earthquake that hit Alaska back in 1964. (video is attached below) Following in indoor recess break, we worked through this weeks spelling vocabulary. The class helped generate a list of definitions for each on of the words. With the rain continuing to pour down outside, the students were kept inside once again, so by the time we completed silent reading and a chapter from "Wonder" they were good and wired for Gym class. In gym class, students were broken into four groups and they worked on their dribbling and shooting skills. To finish off the day, the class started their fashion art drawing assignment.
