Our day began with a quick review of the vocabulary from the Breadwinner chapters 3 - 5. The students then made their choices based on those words for this week's spelling list (located on the Language Arts page). Sam then joined us for about half an hour to talk about Zones of Regulation and to give the students to test their knowledge of the zones based on hypothetical situations. Just prior to recess, we headed outside to the upper field for some Tongue Twister relays. Following recess, we talked about and brainstormed different ideas around the concepts of Responsibility, Recycling, the Climate, the Environment, Transportation, and Energy, in a collaborative mind map project. The brainstorming session took us outside to continue our discussion in the naturally air conditioned and lit space outside out classroom door. After lunch, it was our usual silent reading period, followed by some team relays for gym class, and finally a quick and lopsided game of kickball.
REMINDER: Playland permission slips and payments are due by next Thursday, so please get them in as soon as possible.
