Mr. Barkman took Division 8 this morning for music class, and they had their first recorder quiz of the year. Students arrived back in class hungry, so we broke for a quick snack break, before taking the remainder of the morning to organize our binders, duotangs and cubbies. Following recess, we did a homework review of the Measurement Math package, and outside of two students, everyone had their work complete. NICE!! In the afternoon, our class and Mme. Hoonjan's grade 5/6 French class got together as part of our preparedness for this week's Great BC ShakeOut! Once we were instructed and trained what to do, we helped set up the gym for an afternoon assembly about earthquake preparedness. Members of the Langley Emergency Program led the intermediate students through how to prepare and be safe in the event of a major earthquake. We returned to class to clean up, and do our silent reading until the end of the day.
HOMEWORK: We are only a week away from the permission slip and payment deadline for our Skating program, and to date, I have received only one form, one payment and only one parent-driver has volunteered. Please get the forms and money in, as soon as possible, or please contact me via email if the skating program creates a financial burden and I will see what I can do about getting funding.
NOTE: This Thursday is Science World. We still have room for one or two more parent chaperones.
