Our day began with a visit from Mr. Barkman for the student's first music class of the year. When I returned, we went over a few more class expectations, and started organizing and packing away school supplies. Following recess, the students did some team building exercises, set some school-related personal goals, and then, were divided into their table groups for the month. (See the groups on the Landing Page) After lunch, the students settled in with their books for silent reading (did an excellent job today!), and then we headed to the gym for our first class with Mr. Chan's grade 5/6 class. Both classes reviewed gym rules, met each other, and then we played an epic game of Matt Ball. The back half of our afternoon, saw the students work through a math review package.
HOMEWORK: Please bring a personal item from home, that is non-breakable, and which can fit into a small shoe box. We will use the items for a writing exercise. Every student who brings a personal item, will earn their table group 6 points (except Oilers who can earn 8 each, as they only have 3 members.)
NOTE: Students were sent home with a class introduction letter, a student information sheet, and an internet-based tools permission form. Please read them over, and return them as soon as possible.
