The long awaited and highly anticipated day of ornament decorating took place today. After combining with Ms. Palmer's grade 4s to make our dough, the student kneaded, and flattened out their mix of flour, salt and water to create and cut out their holiday decorations. Once that was complete, the students switched gears to completing a Holiday Language Arts and a French worksheet. During the lunch hour students were given the choice of playing outside or staying in to sew, and nearly 3/4s of the class remained inside to stitch. After lunch, some of the ornaments still were not completely baked, so we extended our silent reading an extra 10 minutes to give the ornament time to fully bake. With our books put away, and our tables draped in paper, they turned their attention to painting their dough art.
REMINDER: All secret Santa Gifts should have been handed in, in advance of Friday's Holiday Party. Any parents or guardians who would like to contribute to our Potluck, can sign up on the Google Doc that I sent out last night.
