We hit the midway point of our week, and began our day with a review of our Spelling List. Embarrassingly, we discovered I had spelt Moccasin wrong, so we corrected my oversight and went through the definitions. Following a short vocabulary quiz, we took the remaining time before recess to complete our Orange Shirt Art. With the gym being used for school photos, we took our class outside to play. After recess, and a brief lesson on decimals and how we use them in every day life, it was time for some online shopping. The students were broken into groups and tasked with pricing out: a Pineapple, a Pack of Pencils, a Pizza, a dozen Doughnuts, a pack of Lego, a reusable water bottle and a Nintendo 3DS. From there were did a number of exercises based on the prices they were able to find online at Walmart.ca. The back half of our day included an introductory video about simple machines, a trip to the library, and then silent reading.
HOMEWORK: No homework tonight, but please review your spelling words.
REMINDER: Thursday is Meet the Teacher Night. I will be making a quick presentation and answering questions. (Please remember this isn't Parent-Teacher Conferences, and it is intended to be a chance to meet the teacher, and find out what is planned for the year, not to discuss individual student achievement) Friday, is early dismissal at 11:30am.
