Our day began with how our Tuesday ended. The students continued to work on their Introduction Cards. The cards will help introduce themselves to their Little Buddies class, and give the kindergarten students (and teacher) a chance to pair up with students with similar interests. It also gives them a chance to make something that is for a younger audience, and therefore make choices that are appropriate for 5 and 6 year olds. A little later in the morning, we did our first creative writing exercise of the year. The students were asked to think back to what they learned about in "Fatty Legs." Each of their stories began with "Margaret dropped her bags at the door, and stared across the empty dormitory..." From the peace and quiet of reading of writing, when jumped right into the chaos of our Dodgeball Tournament!
After recess, we continued with our Math Review package, going over place value, decimals, and fractions. After our regular Silent Reading period (which was excellent), we took some notes on Simple Machines, took a quick walk to look for simple machines around out school, then did our regular Wednesday book exchange. For the final half our of the day, the students had a chance to finish up any incomplete work, read their new books, or play quietly with a partner.
HOMEWORK: No homework tonight, but please remember to bring indoor shoes, and to return your Science World Permission forms.
