Construction and race prep day at JKE today. The students in attendance for at school learning began their day by rewatching the #BlackLivesMatter Movement news story from CBC Kids News, we then read together and discussed the follow up story. The weather wasn't cooperating so insteade of heading outdoors for DPA, we had a break insides with half of the class playing Battleship from a physically safe distance, while the rest raced each other in Nitro Type. After a nutrition break, the students finished up their Martin Luther King, Jr. novel on Epic, and then we began the task to putting together the Woodblock Racer racing ramp in order to test out each of the 25 cars, and to make sure everything is ready for next Thursday's big race day. Everyone had a hand at helping reconstruct the race ramp, but Ryder and Phoenix did the lion's share of the work. Once the ramp was up and operational all of the students helped complete test runs of every car, while I tinkered and repaired the cars that were having difficulties. Once all the Woodblock Racers got the thumbs up and were race ready, Iah, Cole and Ryder did time trials for each racer to help establish heats for Thusday's races. To finish off our day, we took the ramp back inside, cleaned up and the students watched a movie, while I set up the Woodblock Racer Car Show online.
