It was exactly 9 years ago today that our dreams of a Stanley Cup for Vancouver went up in smoke, as my beloved Canucks were handed an embarrassing 4 - nothing loss to the Boston Bruins in Game 7 of the 2011 Stanley Cup Finals. To make matters worse, the area around the arena erupted in riots after the game compounding our city's grief with anger. It is a moment that I wish I could forget.
On a positive note, we had a great (albeit short) Morning Meet Up today! We went over our Weekly Learning Schedule, discussed our weekends and checked in on who'd voted and who hadn't submitted their vote for our Division 7 Woodblock Racer Car Show. The feedback from parents and teachers has been awesome, and they are incredibly impressed with the effort and creativity each of you put into your Racers. I am thrilled with how great each of your cars turned out, and choosing a winner is each category has been tough so far. Voting will stay open until 3pm on Wednesday.
As for today's suggested class work, please take the time to look back though the Daily Recaps from the past 10 months, then answer the following 4 questions about your learning this year, and share them to me in your HAND IN folder.
Here are the questions I posted on the WLS...
A) In what area of your learning did you grow the most this year?
B) What is something you didn’t think you would be good at or didn’t think you would enjoy but did?
C) What thing you did at school are you most proud of this year?
D) How did this year prepare you for being a better student next year?
I will see you all the AT HOME LEARNERS for our final reading group session of the school year tomorrow, and I'm really looking forward to reading Kayte's "The Secret Surprise" with you guys for one last time.
REMINDER: Make sure you check your Team's schedule as the Reading Group times are switched around again this week.
