We were finally able to play our first official game of Quidditch in class this morning, implementing all the game elements including the Seekers, the Snitch, the Beaters, the Bludger, the Keepers and the Quaffle. The students have taken to Quidditch likes ducks to water, and as chaotic as it is...it's a ton of fun! (Sorry no Quidditch pictures today.) If the classes continue to progress with their understanding of the game, we could be ready for tournament play as early as next week!! When the students returned, our attention turned to creative writing, and one of my all-time favourite activities, the Dice Roll story activity. The class and I generated ideas for Characters, Plot, Setting and Conflict, then let the roll of the dice decide which elements & ideas would need to be woven into their stories. (You can see the crazy class generated chart of story ideas above.) After recess we did another quick lesson on the key components of a story (which can be found on the English page) and then used the rest of the block to work on their creative writing. The little buddies came for a visit in the afternoon, and then we rolled into the end of our day with time to finish our Dechirage Art.
REMINDER: Please hand in the Coding & Computer Science Week related field trip permission forms as soon as possible. Students who hand in their completed forms tomorrow will earn 3 points each for their table group. It will be 2 points on Wednesday, and a single point if handed in on Thursday.
NOTE: Mr. Chan, Mr. Knox and I are doing a JKE Movember Moustache Fundraiser, so please send your son or daughter to school with a charitable donation of money for the Canadian Cancer Society, or a non-perishable food item for the Langley Food Bank. Every donation gives the students a chance to vote for their favourite Movember Moustache contestant. See the furry evidence below.
