Our day was an interesting one to be sure. I wasn't 100% how it would roll out, but when the dismissal bell rang at the end of the day, I was really happy with how well the students had worked together, problem solved, and for the most part, remained on task. It can be difficult for some of the students to get their work done when they are given freedom and loose guidelines, but as a group, the leaders led, the creative students created, and the remainder of the students did their part in their groups to accomplish their assigned task. At one point I looked around the class and saw every student pitching in to make their group dynamics work. I won't lie...it made me happy!
The year in review collaborative art poster took the better part of the day, but it was broken up with a visit from Mrs. King or Grade 6 Band, some basketball in the gym, and the usual recess and lunch play time breaks.
REMINDER: Tomorrow and Thursday the students will be dismissed at 1:45 for Student Led Conferences. I will of course be in the classroom, but the purpose of Student Led Conferences is for the students to show and discuss all the learning they have done so far this year, so please ensure your child is with you to guide you.
NOTE: Regional Heritage Fair qualifiers need to have their information packages completely filled out, signed by parents/guardians and returned by no later than Friday, March 13th. Any student who fails to do so, will forego their opportunity, and I will assign their position at the Regional Heritage Fair to a deserving replacement.
