On the heels of yesterday's creative writing exercise, we continued to review the key elements of a story, but went into a little more depth this morning. The handout we reviewed is posted on the English Page. Once our review was complete and we had given examples and elaborated on Character, Setting, Conflict, Plot and Theme, the students turned their attention back to adding, editing and improving their stories. Just before recess, the Grade 6s grabbed their musical instruments and headed for Band class, while the Grade 5s headed outdoors with Mrs. King. In the midday, each of last month's table groups had a chance to practice and prepare for tomorrow's French Power Point presentations. After lunch, it was time to play Quidditch!! Ravenclaw, Gryffindor, Hufflepuff and Slytherin took to the floor for the most intense and exciting part of their school day! (Action photos below) The day finished with silent reading, then music class (or in the case of the sixth graders, book club).
REMINDER: Tomorrow is lesson #3 of the Sportsplex Skating Program, and I will have the classroom door open by 840am so that we can take attendance and be organized into our driving groups by the second bell. Please remember your skates, helmets and gloves!
NOTE: Students who bring in a food or money donation tomorrow for our Movember Fundraiser will earn a pair of points for their table group team, and can earn another 2 points if they have their permission forms signed and handed in.
