It was great to see the sun out today, as it really helped lift the class' spirits, and more importantly gave them a chance to burn off some extra energy, as they didn't have their recess breaks cut short because of torrential downpours. We began our day by correcting the first two pages of our Math review package on place value and rounding. Once the math had been marked, it was time to get creative and the students began to work on their Art Folders. (See photos below) Following the recess, break we began to discuss and learn more about the electoral process. We talked about voting, and the rules around it, and how to maintain fair elections. We even took time to practice how to vote, and then read more about it. (You can find the information and associated spelling list on the Social Studies page) After lunch the student read for 25 minutes, while each table group took turns doing a book exchange in the library. Once silent reading was complete, more time was allocated to work on their Art Folders. We capped our day with some DPA outside in the sunshine, and a quick online tour of our class website.
HOMEWORK: Students should complete the final two pages of their math packages.
REMINDER: There are no classes on Friday, as it is a School Improvement Day, and we have our individual class photos scheduled for next Monday, September 23rd. (I will send home the forms tomorrow.)
