Before getting into the swing of out Halloween festivities, the class put in a bit of schoolwork this morning. We began the day by sorting our spelling words into Verbs, Adverbs, Nouns & Adjectives, and then the students wrote sentences for each of this week's spelling words. After completing their work, we read about the history of Halloween, watched a video on the topic, and did a comprehension crossword puzzle. Following an indoor recess, we played a game of Halloween themed Family Feud (for points), and we were having so much fun that Mrs. Pimentel even came in for a bit to help with announcing the categories and answers. In the afternoon, we carved pumpkins, did Halloween brain busters, gorged ourselves on chips, cookies, cupcakes and even some fruit and veggies. Our day finished with a viewing of Aliens in the Attic.
NOTE: One of the planned activities that we didn't get to today was our costume contest. Not to sweat though, as we will vote tomorrow on our favourite costumes!
REMINDER: please take a peak at your son or daughter's backpack tomorrow, to make sure they are squirreling away half their Halloween Candy and trying to bring it to school. I don't have an issue with 2 - 3 pieces of candy packed into their lunch, but anything more than that won't be helpful or healthy for them.
HAVE A SAFE AND HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!
