Today, our class, and our school took the morning to hear and learn more about the story behind "Orange shirt day". Mme. Calado hosted a very thoughtful and respectful assembly, while students' work adorned the walls, and their words filled the gym. It was a wonderful time to reflect, remember, and reconcile with our Nation's mistreatment of our Aboriginal youth in Residential schools. When we returned from the assembly, the class finally had the chance to sit with and team up with their new table groups for a friendly game of review trivia. After recess, it was off to the library with Mme. Gammel, then back to class to continue to read, hear and discuss our class novel "My Name is Seepeetza." The afternoon saw our first visit to our Lil' Buddies class where the students finally got to meet their Kindergarten buddies.
