Even having lost 75 minutes off our day, Division 8 was still able to power through and get everything we planned, completed today. The day picked up where we left off on Friday, with the students sharing their short stories based on the photos they'd chosen from the National Geographic magazines. The students did a great job of adding great creativity, humour, mystery and description into their writing. Just before 10am, we switched gears, transitioning to French. The class worked through a list of 20 classroom items, and translated each of the words into French, while also noting the gender of each of their new French vocabulary words. Prior to the recess bell, the spelling words were handed out. To finish off our day, I read through the first chapter of Master Minds, one of our five finalists for our next class novel read aloud.
HOMEWORK: Please finish translating and noting the gender of each of the 20 classroom items on our French worksheet earlier today. (The worksheet can be located on the FRENCH PAGE.)
NOTE: Students are encouraged to bring a pumpkin on Wednesday for our class Halloween party. They should also bring a carving kit, but DO NOT bring any sharp knives to school. We will have time set aside for pumpkin carving, but it is the student's responsibility to bring their own gourds to carve. ($2.99 at Save On Foods.)
