After weeks of preparation, today was the day, the students wrote their DART assessment. The assessment is intended to flush out the students strengths and challenges, so that we can work to improve or reinforce their reading comprehension over the remaining 7 months of the school year. In the midday, we took part in the Worldwide Hour of Code. (See introductory videos on the Science page) Students really enjoyed the coding activities, and can continue to build on their coding abilities by logging onto Code.org to explore all the coding opportunities and success stories, or you can click HERE to be redirected to the FREE K-5 Coding Courses available online. In the afternoon, we reviewed our reading and comprehension text from last week on Honey Badgers, and corrected the multiple choice questions. Finally to cap off our day, we completed the round robin portion of our Quidditch tournament, and worked on Math until the end of the day.
REMINDER: Tomorrow is our testing day for our skating program, so please make sure you are at the school on time, as we plan to leave at the morning bell. Parent Drivers can come as early as 8:20am to get parking and warm up in the classroom, as I prepare for the day. Tomorrow is also our Young Entrepreneur's Fair, and our class will be visiting just after recess to do some holiday shopping. $5 - $10 dollars would be a great amount for each student to bring along do some shopping. (Most items are priced between $1 - $5.) Finally, the giving tree, and coin drive began this week, so families are encouraged to come take a tag off the Christmas trees in the lobby, and to drop off the suggested item later in the week.
NOTE: I have also added photos from yesterday's Little Buddies visit, as I could not post them last night, as Weebly was unavailable for me to update my website.
